WHY: Lecerlee’s Sandy Lee wants to spice up your holidays. Her authentic Nuremberg-style lebkuchen – German gingerbread – is baked only during the winter season. And the next sale starts soon. Think of it as a cross between a cake and a cookie, made in small batches with nuts, wheat flour, marzipan, candied citron, orange, peal – and, of course, lots of spices. It come in display-worthy tins with holiday-perfect themes like kaleidoscopes, snowflakes, and, of course, Black Forest, in classic- or chocolate-flavored lebkuchen. But we say opt for the assorted much. After all, variety is the spice of life.
